Does your life feel like a constant form of déjà vu?  The cast of characters changes but the experiences are the same.  Do you ever just feel stuck?  Do you ask yourself why you keep finding yourself in the same situation over and over again and expecting different results?

This may come from your belief system; a system that has been formed from years of thinking patterns to create a mental image of what is the truth.  These patterns are called samkaras which are an accumulation of life experiences which we store in our brain and create impressions or grooves.  The impressions cause us to react and act in certain patterns. The more we react/act in that pattern the deeper it becomes and the more challenging to change.

There is a solution, a way to move beyond this negative pattern of thinking. This workshop will provide you with the tools you need to identify your patterns and improve the way you walk through life each day.

This series is more than just Prenatal Yoga. This is a unique opportunity to further connect with yourself as you embark upon a journey of growing life within you, as well as the experience of creating a sisterhood that you can take with you into the delivery room and beyond. We’ll laugh, we’ll cry, and we’ll have everlasting memories of this special time in our lives as strong, powerful women.

Week 1: Intro & Flow

Here we will introduce ourselves and share whatever experiences we might be having; whether good or bad, in a judgement-free space. Danielle will then lead you through a gentle, full-body practice to calm the mind and open the energy channels within the body.

Week 2: Happy Hips & Hammies

This class is all about the hips and hamstrings! We’ll engage in a hip-opening sequence as well as learn poses and stretches that will aid in delivering baby. This class will be grounding and meditative; helpful for getting through contractions and general aches and pains of carrying your baby.

Week 3: Prenatal Power!

In this class we’re getting our sweat – I mean glow – on. The focus of this class is to strengthen and lengthen. We’ll move slowly and mindfully, while simultaneously engaging in movements to strengthen our backs and arms. Remember, after we carry baby in our bellies we have to carry baby on our bodies! Time to tone!

Week 4: Yoga Nidra

This will be a unique class in which you’ll experience Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep). While falling asleep is not necessarily the goal, it does happen and ultimately, that just means it’s working. Yoga Nidra offers us the opportunity to come into the first stage of sleep during which our brain produces Alpha waves. This is the stage of sleep that most people wouldn’t describe as sleep. We might say we “dozed” or took a “cat nap”. This stage of sleep can actually be more restful than other deeper stages of sleep because we are not dreaming or tossing and turning. In fact, it is believed that 20 minutes of Yoga Nidra is equivalent to 4 hours of sleep. After we come out of this state, we’ll discuss topics of birth and motherhood that might be considered “taboo” and are often not talked about. First-time moms: do you know what Thrush is? How about Mastitis? Ever think about what your first post-partum bowel movement might be like? Worried about Post-Partum Depression? Let’s talk about it! It happens, and you’re not alone.

Week 5: Open Your Heart

This week we’ll move through a heart-opening sequence, perfect for opening the chest and shoulders as we tend to hunch forward as a result of milk production. On a spiritual level, we’ll open our hearts to this new chapter we’re about to write. A nurturing practice, ending with a guided meditation to further connect you with baby.

Week 6: Yum.

Prenatal Restorative Yoga. Today it’s all about receiving. Restorative Yoga is a style of movement (or should I say, not moving) in order to restore mind, body, and spirit. With plenty of props, we’ll come into poses with the support of bolsters, blankets, and blocks to completely relax and find a soft opening in the body. Restorative Yoga helps heal the body, relax the mind, and restore the soul. How can we expect ourselves to care for our child if we don’t take time to care for ourselves? This will be a sweet way to end our time together and enjoy some Thai-style massage inspired assists. Clean Juice will be providing refreshments at the end of our practice.
